Emerson Commander side to side play?

I recently bought a Emerson Commander. With the blade fully opened and locked, I can move the blade side to side in relation to the handle. I have other knives that do not do this. Is this normal for Emerson knives or this model? It's about .10 inch deflection from my rough measurements at the tip. It sure seems sloppy. It seems I may be able to remove some of this by tightening the pivot screw, but worry about it being harder to open at that point. Ugh. Sorry if my questions are rambling and dumb...

Thanks,
Jeff

Tighten up the pivot just a bit. If you're worried about it been too tight then you can lube the ball bearings on the detents to ensure a nice, smooth action.

A lot of peole use White Lightning. Myself I just use a good teflon based bicycle chain oil. Works well for me.

as far as knife lubes go, i was using White Lightning, but i've got some Militec1 on order from BM, and i'm gonna try that. in my experience, the WL seems to dry out in the bottle, if it's not shaken occasionally. more later.....

I've used White Lightning also. Seems to work well, but you have to be steady handed applying it, as it wants to run everywhere.

I was just noticing my newest Super Commander has a touch of side-to-side play too. I might add that, out of my 15 Commanders, this is the only one that has not been totally solid - and even then, it's not terribly loose.

I'm going to take it apart, clean & lube it, assemble and crank it down. Should be fine then.
