I was wondering what people think of the emmerson commander as a self defence knife, thoughts/opinions? Please let me kno :)
 
it would work ok imho, imho the CQC8 or '12 is better for SD imho, but nothing wrong w/a commander, they were originally designed as a fighting knife for navy specops .............

the only reason i prefer the '8 or '12 is they are a little "pointier" but i'm sure the commander would penetrate just fine too, the end is a little "blunter" though.
 
I am more than happy with my Commander. I have been carrying and generally beating the hell out of mine for the last four years, and have yet to be unsatisfied with any aspect of its performance. I have done ballistic cutting tests against various mediums such as cloth covered meat and leather jacket material and can tell you it cuts very well. It's thrusting ability may not be up to some of it's more pointy contemporarys, but, I sure as hell won't volunteer to stand in front of one.
