Emerson constuction technique?

A couple of questions for you guys who have an Emerson in front of you. My local knife store just got in a Raven and I checked it out. Their was so much blade play the washers were just floating loose. Their doesn't seem to be any screws holding the stop pin in, is it just wedged into the liners with no screws? I know I could tighten up the pivot but this would also make the action a bit stiffer. My question is what is holding the scales/liners together at the back of the knives. The scales on the Commanders I've seen on the Internet have screws fixing them to the liners, but what holds the handle together? Are there some internal screws holding the liners together through the spacer?
I've noticed over the years that a nice strong handle with plenty of screws seems to aid in a more decent lock up with liner locks. Have any of you guys pulled apart one of the production Emersons and seen what holds them together? any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Peter,
Once you remove the scales there are two phillips head screws that fasten the liners together through the spacer, the stop pin in my knife floats and will fall out when the scales are removed.
I am pretty unhappy with the Raven (I own several other Emerson knives and love them) and I'm making some micarta scales and bronze
washers to improve mine. I'll post pics if it's not too ugly.
Hope this was helpful.
Tony
