Hey all,
I've had a couple Emerson Karambits this last year a CQC7 Kbit and a Combat Kbit and I was wondering if there is any way to make this knife smoother. I open and close it several times a day and it still hasn't gotten any smoother.

Also, the lock was sticky on both, the Combat Kbit I was able to fix with some graphite on the lock face but tho hasn't worked for my CQC7 Kbit. I've taken them apart to clean them several times but I can't seem to get either of them to deploy smoothly an I can't figure out why the lock gets so sticky on the CQC7.

Any tips are helpful!

Thank you in advanced everyone!

I prefer to use a Sharpie rather than graphite. It works better for me. Might make a difference.

Try giving the pivot a very slight turn to loosen it up. All my Emersons have a specific sweet spot.

The lock on my Super KBit is sticky as well, but I actually prefer it that way. The pivot is silky though.

I have zero experience with karambits. I will tell you that the lock will stop sticking. I would close the knife and then look at the area where the liner was engaging the blade. There will be a black area. I would put alchohol on a paper towel and then crease it to fit in the area and clean off the black stuff.

You'll notice a difference right away but it will come back. Do the alchohol again. Repeat. Another thing I did was use an eraser on that area as well. Don't ask me how or why but it works too. It seemed to speed up the break in period with my super Commander. It works very smoothly now.

When you took the knives apart and cleaned them did you replace the gease with any kind of lubricant? Also when you reassemble you should keep everthing a little loose. Then go back and tighten your body screws front to back making sure that everything is lined up properly.

It is an Emerson and is built to function properly for a very long time. I believe you'll get it working correctly very soon.

Yeah I definitely oiled it after I cleaned off the grease. I'll try these other things and see if that works. Thanks!

My Emerson was stiff at the beginning as well. I also opened and closed many times but one time I have to wash the knife (nothing fancy, just cleaning from food cutting under tap water) and suddenly everything was smooth.

First of all, I am 100% jealous of your CQC7 kbit :(

Have you tried polishing/ sanding down the washers a little? I found that sanding them down some with 600 grit helped.

Hahaha I have to admit it took me a while of searching to realize they're hard to come by, then one day someone messaged me on here to tell me that they had one for sale. I was lucky! I'll try the washer thing along with everything else mentioned and I'll post back to see if it worked
