Well I posted and asked you guys about a your thoughts on a 100$ forler. I found a CQC-7 regular size for 107$. But I'm not sure it's big enough. it says 3.3 inches and 8 overall. 5.6 ounces seems nice and beefy. But does it feel small in the hand compared to say an Endura or chinhook. I've never even handled an emerson. But sometimes a measurement on paper is deceptive. Like say for instance the buck strider solution.it's only 4'' but it is a big heavy hunk of steel when you hold it. Wide too. But does it seem to be on the big side, small side or just right?I'm getting it for EDC and SD. SD mostly cuz I carry a leatherman also. Is it good size for SD?

It's waved and satin finished. Thats another reason I got it. I love the wave. I have a waved Endura.I know they are different knives but how does it compare to that?

I question the value of any particular knife for self-defense. Self-defense is more a function of alertness, training, experience, and above all, avoidance. Any good pocketknife, especially a one-hand opener, can be a valuabe adjunct, but only if you've got your act together before you pull the knife.

That said, the CQC-7 is probably one of the all-time classic self-defense knives. The grip is excellent, the blade will cut and penetrate well without self-destructing. This design is one of the reasons for the popularity of the tanto blade for self-defense generally.

I have a Benchmade version, the 975. This is more like the Super CQC-7, slightly longer in the blade. But if you are going to use it for last-ditch self-defense, a knife is an up close & personal weapon anyway, so blade length is not the most critical factor.

It feels bigger than the Endura and smaller than the Chinook. All three have different but excellent grips.

Comparing it to the Endura Wave, I'd say fo for the Endura. Two reasons. First, the Endura has a more effective Wave, which I feel is less detructive to pockets and opens more reliably. Second, the Endura Wave is a fine knife for utility as well, while the CQC-7 tanto is not.

I prefer an every day carry utility knife for self-defense. If you carry a dedicated knife for SD, when an emergency arises, you will not be used to reaching for it, and may not even have it with you. Your EDC will always be there, and you will have the muscle memory to deploy it without thinking as you panic. :)

I don't like the grip on either the CQC or endura. Mostly because they seem slip prone.

really? i find the g10 emerson grips to be very slip resistant.

i like the 7 a lot. i have benchmade and eki versions. very utilitarian and a great cutter, and carries nicely. i think you got a pretty good price.

i have one somehwere on the exchange if you are interested take a look. it is the older spearpoint half serrated model. i couldnt email you, its blocked.

none of the emerson CQC's are slip prone. imho the endura isnt either.

the '7 will work just fine for SD use,

If I were choosing between the 7 and the Delica , I'd go Delica 4 W , i trust the lockup more , the wave is more consistent and less of a pocket wrecker . It also is strong in the utility arena .

IU like the 7 , sexy beast , but the delica is a better bet .
