I'm seriously considering a CQC 7A as my first Emerson knife. The question is which one? The full size is 4.65" folded while the mini is 4.25". The blade length on the full size is 3.3" and the mini is 2.9". I tend to carry smaller knives more frequently than larger ones just due to the convenience factor and the environment in which I work. However, the mini seems to be larger and heavier (3.75 oz) than other knives of similar blade length. The full size is only about 0.5 oz heavier and 0.4" longer. Which do you prefer? Which do you believe is handier and more useful for general cutting tasks and as a backup for self-defense. Thanks.

I don't own but have handle the full-size CQC7. Like the feel alot, in my personal opinion, the sizes are so similar that unless you live in anal <3" jurisdiction, just go ahead and go with the full size.
I've always been a believer in going for designs in their "unmodified" size.

I agree with YoungCutter. The full sized CQC7 rides perfectly in dress pants, dockers or jeans. I don't carry mine that often because I find it too small. The mini, for me would be way too small for my needs. The full sized is also quite light weight. If I am not mistaken, the only reason the mini version came about was do to certain size limitations in some areas of the country.

On the other hand, the whole thing simply boils down to personal likes and dislikes. I am sure you will be happy with the quality of the knife regardless which size you purchase.
