I'm curious as to when Emerson started putting a swedged blade on the CQC-8. I have an older one that does not have it. Which was upsetting to me when I first got it . I have receintly been seeing them with the swedge on-line. Is this something they are doing to new models? I've been trying to find a CQC-8 sfs with a swedged blade to trade for mine. But would gladly buy one if I was sure I would get the blade I want. But most websites use old pictures so I'm unsure what to expect. Can anyone explain ? Thanks

The early non waved 8s had the swedge but when the waved ones came out they had no swedge.
The 8s now have the swedge again so if you want a swedged 8 go for an old non waved one (if
you can find one that is) or go for a newer one.

Thanks for the info. Do you know of a internet store That would definitely have newer ones? Like I was saying before. All the pictures I see in on-line shops are stock photos of the older models.

Not sure to be honest, there is no harm in asking them if it has the swedge or not though.

As Haze said, the new ones now are swedged, and I'm pretty sure all of the stone-wash finished ones are swedged. The store I shop at online is Newgraham, and if you call they can answer your question, I'm sure. Unfortunately, they are still waiting to replenish their Emerson stock right now. I'm still waiting to get my stone-washed A-100, but I like buying from them so will wait.
(PS: If I wasn't supposed to mention dealers on this forum, I apologize).

best bet would be to call.

all the early surefire ones were swedged FWIW, & IIRC the 1st few hundred of the non waved ones intro'd when the SF ones were dico'd were too,

i have had 'em both ways and the swedged do look better imho, doesnt make any difference really though.

Is Emerson introducing the CQC-8 in stone washed finish? I see that they have been putting out some of there others in stone wash, but I haven't seen a CQC-8 yet.

I saw a video on youtube where Ernest Emerson is introducing new models; one of those models is the super-CQC8, and it was in stone-washed finish. And I am sure the regular 8 is available stone-washed, too. Also in the video, Emerson mentioned how people were demanding he bring back the swedges on the blades, so he did.

Thanks for the info. If I could get my hands on a CQC-8 Swedged and stonewashed that would be the ultimate. I guess I'll just have to wait till one pops up for sale some where.

Ok, So for anyone who is interested. I shot an e-mail over to the Emerson customer service, and they told me that they will be offering the CQC-8 in stonewash. They said there next batch will be done in about 7 weeks.
