I recently purchased an Emerson cqc7 from a private dealer. The seller said that the knife was old but has not even been used. The only difference that I have noticed is that there are torx screws used on the whole knife. Has Emerson ever used torx screws on the cqc7? Possibly on older models?

I've never seen one with torx screws, though I am hardly claim to be the absolute authority. Pics may help identify you variant... or, I hate to say it, determine whether or not it is a fake. Let's hold out hope for the best for now...

Even the older knives I've seen have a model and usa marking.

Clip is off. G-10 looks different. Even older ones have dates. I'm gonna say fake

the Blade, handle, liners, pocket clip, hardwear is nothing ive seen on an emerson.

Also looks to have phosphor bronze washers rather than nylatron washers which are standard.

Not sure who your " private dealer " is but you might want to get your money back.

As a general rule Emerson doesn't use torx screws, either flat or phillips.

The edge of those liners are polished WAY to smooth, Emerson's are rough.

The markings are all wrong.

Kind of hard to tell from the pics but that doesn't even look like a 7v model, is it ground on both sides ? Also as far as I know all of the 7v models have tan handle scales.

Emerson does not use bronze washers either.

If you got it through eBay, go through their protocol on how to get your money back.
