How does one get/buy/order an original custom knife from Emerson? What are the options for custom knives? Is there a website? Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see anything on the regular Emerson website about customs.

I'm not talking about secondary markets, I know I can find them on eBay, USN, here, AZCK, and elsewhere. I'm talking about a brand new one for which I would be the first and original owner.

Win one of the lotteries that take place throughout the year. Table price will typically be $700-$900 range, and the knives pretty much double in value when they are handed to their (first) owner, hence the secondary market and prices. That's it, period.

As far as brand new from the maker? Yes. They are hand made by Ernie, and there is just too much demand to build to order. And there certainly is no inventory other than lottery prep.

I'll add that there are no options you can change in a custom Emerson. They are made with whatever materials or grinds he decides at the time he makes them. Really the only option Ernie will do to a custom is add serrations if you want them.

All the above posts are spot on. Ernie has closed his books many years ago and is still working off of a 16 year back log. Every now and then someone will post a pic of a cqc-6 or rhino they ordered from Ernest (back when he took custom orders) they just received after a 15 year wait.

Only way to get one direct is to win a chance to buy one buy participating in the lottery. Even then there's no gaurantee of being able to get what you want even if your name gets called. When it comes to the lottery first name to be called gets pick of the litter. As names get called they are left to pick from the remaining knives on the table. 6's are ALWAYS first to go. i was lucky enough to be called at Blade 2013. Luckily the knife I was after was available. Walked away with one of the Beast Roadhouse Prototypes.

I doubt I'll ever get to one of those shows, unless there's ever one local to me. I'm not going to be able to travel just for the chance to maybe buy something. Guess I'll just stick to productions.

You an ECA member??? Emerson has several virtual lotteries and auctions every year. Usually at least one for spring and one for Christmas. The only caveat is you have to be an ECA member. There's an virtual auction and lottery this uocoming 12th of December. There still might be time for you to sign up for the ECA and register then just tune in and pray!!

I'll probably join soon but I won't have the kind of money for a new custom until at least a week after the 12th so it wouldn't matter anyway.

There's always the next one. Just make sure Ya sign up so you get the emails. Good luck!

Table price for customs is as follows:

Reg size custom - $700
Super/beast/Jupiter- $1000
Full dress - $2000+

Reg size customs at the California Knife Show were $650. Hopefully it's like that this xmas. :)
