Emerson customizers....

After seeing all the recent beautifully modified Emerson production pieces(CM, Death's Head, Etc) I'm wanting to have my CQC-7 (or new Swedged Commander) done up.

I'm curious, how much does this type of work go for? I understand that it would come down to specifics, and depends on the craftsman. But in ballpark type terms what are we talking for adding a new thicker lock and bolsters, or doing a frame-lock conversion.

I figure I'd ask here because Ive seen some nice work, rather than make a bunch of inquiries to the guys doing the work, and wasting someone's time.
I'd just like to get some ideas, and follow up from there.
Thanks,

Andy

Thanks..I figured it had to be a bit pricey, but from the looks of things you get what you pay for.

Really does depend on what you want. With ferrrk, Ti bolsters on both sides is actually more expensive than framelocking because of the more parts involved. Ti backspacer that I have him put on is expensive. Thicker locks add to the price as well. Some opt to keep the original non-locking liner to save on cash. I opted to replace it with a thicker liner. If ferrrk decides that it's best to use a modified screw for the added thickness of the knife, that adds a little bit too. But all these little things adds $20-$50 here and there.
But to give you an idea, a basic framelocking costs about $170 or so. I've had jobs go up to $250 because everything was special order.

What I get from ferrrk is usually right at $250-$300.00 But , to be fair my dream knives are ferrrk's nightmare knives :D But it is well worth it to me and many others.

If people want ti spacers, bolsters or scales then its always going to be expensive (~200+)
Ti is expensive to buy and can be a pit of a PITA to work with too so puts work times up.
I tend to charge about the same as every one else it seems so things have a standard price.
Folks like STR do great frame locks for less than 200 but he has refind his production
recently so is in a position to charge less than someone who does things just by hand.

I don't have any stuff done by Ferrrk but I do have a frame lock done by
STR and I would defo get other knives done by him.

Try Reese Weiland. He is my go to guy for this stuff.

Thanks again. I'll just have to stop buying new knives for a week or two and I'll be ready to go. I'll start really looking at all the pics on here and figure out which way I want to go. I can't wait to have a customized piece of my own.
