I saw this question posted on another forum with no reply and thought I'd try it out here. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE IN COMPUTERLAND TAKEN DELIVERY OF A PERSONALLY ORDERED ERNEST EMERSON CUSTOM KNIFE IN THE LAST TWELVE MONTHS? Are all of us waiting for nought? Please post if you actually received your knife and give a date and invoice number. Maybe then the rest of us will be able to cling to the straw of hope you provide.

I haven't taken delivery of one (probably because I haven't seen the reason to order one), but at the 98 Blade Show I had the opportunity to walk up and "buy" two of them for a former "employer" who wanted some extras to sell.

It's a good question, though. Has anyone taken delivery?

I'll try to put this delicately. Some people can get them and some can not. I have a friend who new and trained with Ernie in martial arts a few years ago. He has bought 2 handmade Emersons in the last 3 years. He calls up and places his order a few months before the Blade show and then meets Ernie there to pick up the knife. I personally think that Mr. Emerson is quickly moving into the manufacturer instead of maker area. He seems to be concentrating more on his production stuff than his handmades. I have played with my friends cqc6 and cqc8 and they are worth what Ernie is asking, but not worth a 3-4 year wait. Hopefully you will get yours soon.

What a great way to do business! Just take the deposit and then give the promised custom to someone you might know, or to someone who is in the crowd around your table at a show. The question still stands: Has ANYONE gotten a knife shipped out from Emerson via the depost/wait program during the last twelve months?

Are you the person that asked this question last year on KnifeForums (no one had received one at that time either).

There is really no reason to continue this thread. We all know what the answer is.

By the way does anyone know why Dick Marchinko in his latest book does not carry his beloved CQC6?

Its a test, see if you can figure out the answer.

It is easier to get things done with a kind word and a knife, than with a kind word alone!

Les: I didn't post the question about Emerson delivery myself but I did see it on knifeforums. No response of course. Didn't someone say that Marcinko now carries a Spyderco Military? His reason for not carrying a CQC6? Possibly he didn't draw a winning number in Emerson's little lotteries at one of the shows.

eb64,

Good guess, but wrong. Emerson makes/made a large, heavy fixed blade called the Rogue Warrior. Mr. Marchinko asked him to change the name. Which I think was a reasonable request. Especially since Marchinko's books were largely responsible for popularizing Emerson's knives.

Emreson declined, Marchinko is now carrying factory knives.

Of course there may be another answer, but this is the story I heard. If I am in error, I apologize. But would love for either or both to tell their side of the story on this fourm.
