I have two Customs with Right Hand Grinds. One is a CQC6/Viper Damascus with MOP, made for the Japanese market, and a fixed Blade made for a Martial Arts Instructor.

I'm aware of the CQC6 that Ark has with a Right Hand Grind and am interested in finding out what other Emerson customs are out there that have a Right Hand Grind as well.

Do any of you have any additional knives or have you seen any other Emerson customs with right hand grinds?

Photos of both of my knives are on Photopoint, and the custom is shown on the Custom/Inventory Gallery.

I have 2 Emerson customs with right hand grinds. One is the left handed CQC6.

The other is my Viper 3, which unlike other Viper 3's that I have heard about has a double hollow grind.

If you have back issues of Handgunner magazine, look on page 73 of the March/April 1998 issue. There is a picture of a fixed-blade, talon shaped throat cutter, with a parachute cord wraped handle, and it is a right hand grind. Halfmoon logo also. I don't have a scanner or I would include the picture in the post. This pic should be on the Emerson Gallery.

I think I have that issue. I'll check my 'library' and scan it for you guys if I do...

I highly doubt that your request would be given any serious consideration.

It's my understanding also that the right hand grinds are meant for the Japanese market only, based upon the little that I know about them, and it's surprising to me that any even show up in the United States. Those that do probably have a story of their own that I think should be preserved if at all possible.

I'd like to hear (and see) any other Emerson Customs that have the right hand grind.

Fixed blade, hawksbill, Right side grind, cord wrapped, EMERSON logo?
NO WAY!
I have got to see this. If anyone has a pic that they could post I would greatly appreciate it.

I start digging through the boxes of old magazines tonight.

It would be easier if I knew what was on the cover.

I could almost swear it's the issue done by Pat Covert w/ Ichiro Nagata doing the photos.
I had it a digested it throughly and tossed it.
I remember vividly the knife. Satin finish green paracord handle, Chiesel Grind, HM logo.
Clearly a non-catalogged sentry removal prototype.
Wish I could remember the issue date. I'll cal Camaeron Hopkins and ask.

He who conquers himself is the greatest warrior."

"This is the law:
There is no possible victory in defense, The Sword is more important than the shield, And skill is more important than either, The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental."

Tamishigiri:

That description totally jibes with something a friend told me about around that time (98-99). He described a knife he saw in a magazine that had a curved blade that was designed for sentry removal and being reviewed by SEALs. It sounded far fetched and being such the knife "afficianado" I SURELY would have known about something like that had it ever existed.

So naturally I told him he was full of sh*t.

That's what I get for being an expert!

I've never seen either of them, but the folder kind of resembles a Ryan Number Three.

Thanks for the scans Peter.

Sadly I cann't take credit for the scans. I just remembered that it was discused before. It is an interesting design. Sounds like none have made it out of the circle, though.
