My buddy somehow lost the detent ball on the lock bar of his super cqc7 and was trying to find the size to order a new one himself , any help is appreciated

Did that myself on one of my fav's, a CQC-10. Crawled on the floor for a hour and found it. It is really small.

I would suggest your buddy send it in to Emerson they have really good customer service.

He just got it so he woukd rather do it himself

1/16 stainless steel ball bearing. Most of them are 440C and you can probably find them at Fastenal if you have it local.
