1)Is there any way to get the blade to open quicker while the screw is tightened? Usually when I loosen the screw, the blade opens better but the screw has a tendency over time to pop out.
2) I had read an article about how sharp the blade was right out of the box but when i recieved mine it seemed dull, when i called the company they said if I wanted it sharpened it would cost ~$15,I believe.Has anyone had this problem with their edge? I really don't know people who are experienced knife sharpeners and wonder should I just mail it to them(Emerson) and let them do it.

You might want to skip over to the Emerson forum with this question, a lot of knowledgeable people there.
I've never had the problems mentioned with my Emerson knives so i'm sorry that i cannot be of any service.
