people bitch about QC problems in Emersons but the fact of the matter is that these are man made devices. and no man is perfect. I've seen qc problems in microtechs, benchmades, spydercos, etc...even in a brand new custom terzuola. What matters is how the maker reacts. BM was not very helpful and a pain to deal with, spyderco was very cool to deal with, and terzuola told me he did not know whether he'd have time to fix it or not. It's all about attitude and the willingness to right a wrong, and I think this is where Emerson really shines.
enjoy your new knife and hang out here and learn.
cheers,

oh yeah, agree 100% w/ya - ya gonna have probs w/anything - nothing is perfect - and the best people to deal with, in this regard, IMHO, are REKAT, definitly Buck (sent in 1 that i had had for 20+ yrs, lock broke, point chipped on blade, totaled out - found it in a drawer, sent it in and 2 wks later bingo - a brand new 501 - wow what can i say??) and now emerson - had lock probs w/my REKAT special edition smooth handle, black blade, #24/75, and had to send it in - they returned itfixed in 9 days, most of it in shipping - and the rolling lock is supposedly very strong, w/very few probs(again anything can mess up) - well w/my luck, complete failure to lock open on a 1 week old knife- but they fixed right away, no charge - am happy....and have heard that CRKT is also 1 of the easiest to deal w/on returns too

other probs, not so happy - some are a pain in the a$$ to deal w/no names of course lol -

but i tell ya what emerson gained a repeat customer w/there service to me - i appreciate it very much......

By the way, don't even screw around with "White Lightning" and these other doo-dad, super-dooper lubes. Any form of grease is not going to be faster than good old BreakFree CLP or Militec. They are great.

I use BreakFree almost exclusively now, keeps my Bushmaster barking and my Benelli BOOMING...and...it makes a knife lightning fast.

I know a fellow who had an MT LCC D/A and he had that Whitelightning stuff in it. It was sluggish as hell.

I took a couple of Q-Tips and cleaned that white excrement out of there and one drop of BreakFree on each side, worked it open and closed easy a few times, and the thing was noticeably faster...I mean, really fast.

Another consideration is, grease is grease. Period. And grease is going to make pocket lint into gummy MUCK in the knife. Dirt, lint, you name it. Grease collects that crap and you don't want that in a knife that bends in the middle.

Chuck Gollnick wrote a piece on his website about Militec1 and BaliSong knives, everyone should go read it as it is quite enlightening and I am eventually going to get around to taking that advice.

He heats the joint up with a hairdryer to get the Militec1 activated like it would in a firearm and noticed alot of difference. He swears by it and if there is one guy that wants a fast knife, it's Chuck.

Yes, Militec-1 rules. I usually apply it then put the stuff in front of a little portable space heater for a few minutes. The new break free "greased lightning" (similar to old breakfree lp) is good stuff too.
