Have you ever made a low ride clip for the Emerson Gentleman Jim?

If it uses the same three hole pattern all the other Emerson knives use then I know the clip hole pattern. Its the same pattern as the clips on the Benchmade Griptilians Ernie just designed his own style to his clip after that original I think. It at least that is how it appears. Its the same pattern for the holes as the original clip Sal invented when Spyderco used it in the early 80s so if your Griptilian swaps out with the EKI then yeah I got ya covered. If you can measure the distance from the midline of each of the east/west screws to the end of the handle it will help so I know where to make the 180 degree fold over. Most are either 1/2" or 5/8" to the end. I just need to know which you have. Thanks

The knife is inbound, should have it tomorrow. I will forward measurement, thanks.

Keep in mind also the lanyard. Try to envision the clip on there as it rises toward the 180 fold. Decide where you want that fold over for your folder and once I have that I'll know. Now keep in mind the measurement will be different for one clip screw on some of these knives. The shorter distance position or the one that occurs first where the clip riser will off hang in the first spot is the one we are interested in. This is where it would either first off hang or first interfere with the lanyard hole on many models and not the actual 'end' of the handle if you follow what I'm saying. On some like the CQC7 the clip can almost go to the very end. On others it is not the case so not being familiar with yours we'll just have to see when you get it. Thanks

Yeah, this model will not allow the clip to go to the end of the handle because the handle ends in a pointed curve. I considered the lanyard hole as well, I thought of maybe covering it as I never use a lanyard, this wouldn't be an issue would it?

Well, no if you don't think you'll miss the lanyard. It may look odd and draw a question or two now and then as to why it fits as it does so if aesthetics are important to you it may blend better or look more like it belongs there to make it fit within the handle curve and worked around the lanyard or blended better to work with it somehow. I don't believe I've ever been asked about this one. Is it a new model? I'll have to do a search later and look it up.
