On the website, the cqcs are listed as having a v grind. Is the edge chisel? What's the difference? If I'm a southpaw, is it ok to use a right handed emerson in the left hand due to the chisel edge? Are there other similiar folders that are not chisel edged?

Moderators: Can you please move to general knife discussion forum? I accidently posted in the wrong section. Thanks.

the only one imho to have anything similart to a std "V" grind is the CQC12, and its not really a std "V" grind but its close (ie a std "V" grind like say a spyderco delica PE), the others are more a CG than a std "V" imho regardless of what EKI calls 'em.

EKI's are LH chisel grind so they should work fine for ya,

ya could always look at the waved spydercos, the handles arent much like EKI's though.

Some CQCs have a chisel and some have a v grind. But that's just speaking of the primary grind, which is most often a sabre grind, IIRC. However, just to complicate the matter, the edge grind AKA edge bevel AKA secondary bevel - that's a chisel grind, which throws some people off.

It won't bother you, though, as SIFU1A says. As a lefthander, you're the one they're made to order for! :D

I'll move this to the Emerson forum.

These pics will probably help, this is what EKI describe as a V grind. as you can see the actual edge bevel is only on one side but it is a V a ground blade. This really makes no difference when used in either hand.
The chisel grind is the same but totally flat on the "back" side. Again it makes little difference to cutting with either hand but is actually better for a lefty, as already stated.

So you would only have to sharpen one side of this knife? I'm thinking about getting an Emerson, but the edge grind is really throwing me for a loop.

Correct, only one side is ground. If you sharpen the one side and strop you will be done...
