(Well I guess it's better than calling them Emerson El-Cheepo knives...)

Anybody like 'em?

Anybody not like 'em?

How smoothly do they open? How would the lock compare to a typical Spyderco?

The grip design looks appealing.

I've handled a few. Ergonomics are good and the open easily. They're okay folders, but if I were to choose a lightweight Zytel handled lockback folder, I'd go with the tried and true Spyderco Endura. I'd also go with a Benchmade Pika in 440C steel for that matter. For the price of 1 Emerson Hard Wear folder you could practically get 2 Pikas.

What is the factory edge like? Is it a V-grind or chisel grind?

I am looking for a reasonably priced just-under-3.5 inch knife for when travelling through Connecticut. The Emerson Reliant / Endeavor is 3.4 inches, whereas the Pika is 3.5 inches. The Emersons also look like they would have superior grip ergo's, as do the more expensive Emersons that I own. (Too bad they don't make lockback versions of all their knives! I wouldn't mind a lockback version of the Commander and the Persian...)

IIRC they are chisel grind. they are 'ok' but dont have the 'style' (?) or whatever the higher $$ EKI's and customs have, not to me anyway. to me they look more like a cold steel product than a spyderco, would rather have a spyderco delica or endura than any of the hard wear knives, if $$ is an issue.
