Anybody had a chance to work with the new lightweight, AUS 8 Emersons? I wonder how they compare with the cold steel voyagers.

Without having handled one yet, they look like they were made in the same factory in Japan. Don't like the blade-weakening holes though. The Voyagers are great users.

The Emerson Hardwears (I had an Endeavour) have great ergos, are light in the pocket (like a Spyderco Endura) and come in a useful blade size. The action on mine was stiff, but would have loosened over time - and the clip is shiny stainless. Would have preferred black to be honest.

Compared to a Voyager, you get good finger protection with the HardWear and Emerson ergonomics... the Voyagers are more "refined" and the Endura even more refined. But you just don't get the handling ergos of the Emerson with the other two.

In the end, I sold the Endeavour and went back to the Endura - black clip, and smooth lock on my Spydie just couldn't be resisted.
