Emerson HD7 interesting differences

I got in a 2004 HD7 this morning to figure out why the blade was dragging the side of the G10 when it closed. Turned out to be an easy fix because the pivot barrel was unscrewing itself, which is something I've seen in my own Emerson knives countless times. (by the way a dab of Sportsmans Goop will fix that problem)

Anyway, while it was here I noted some differences I had not been aware of that I thought were worth a post before I mail it home.

Note the lock relief difference and the thickness of the lock difference. Also of course the one is a black blade model but it looks like other than these few things they are the same.

Interesting though that the older one was thinner stock for the lock. According to my digital caliper the older 04 model is .120 thick stock and the newer 06 model is .135 thickness. However the older model has a longer thicker lock relief cut that measures .046 and the newer thicker model has a shorter lock relief cut but measures .040 thickness. Go figure!

Also, you can't tell but the non screw head part of the pivot that recesses into the ti lock side sits all the way down flush on the older one and on mine it sticks up a bit. Kind of funny but overall I like the older one better than my own.
