Emerson help wanted

I have posted some photos in the GENERAL forum about an Emerson I own and trying to determine if it is real or fake. Could you experts please weigh in on the knife? Any help would be appreciated.
 
the only thing i find really odd is the satin finish and 98 logo. the satin finish is hand ground, and hand ground blades normally have the specwar logo.

as haze said, if it is real, it could just be an oddball since it was from so long ago.
 
I think the Emerson experts on another forum have said that it is indeed real and a rare find in that format and condition these days.
