Emerson is slowly becoming my number 1

I've been knife collecting since the beginning of this year and I have to say that when I first started, out, as I was learning about knives and stuff, I really had a strong distaste for Emerson knives. I read on some issues people had with them and I thought that the standard black G-10 with 154cm, and the price was just insane. I thought that these knives were all totally overhyped and overrated.

So I started collecting Spydercos and Benchmades and then eventually really got bit by the bug and started collecting some Chris Reeve Knives, and Strider. But Emerson just wasn't in the picture

Then I had a chance to play with a few Emersons at a local knife shop and I remember in particular, playing with a cqc-8 and I was impressed with the build quality and the simplicity of the knife. It just felt good and I was really surprised based on the bias I had on them. Finally I had an opportunity to score an HD-12 as my first Emerson. I posted on here a while ago about it and I got it at a really good price and was like what the heck, I'll just get it and if I don't like it, I'll just trade it because Emerson junkies will want it as a collector. I wish I never got it because it hooked me onto Emerson. I have since traded the knife, but it has now evolved to a collection of a CQC-13, CQC-7V, a mini CQC-15 and now a CQC-15 on order. And I find myself reaching for these knives when I go out all the time because I just feel like these knives want to be used. And they are so comfortable to use.

I still love my CRKs, and my Strider, but like it says in my title, Emerson is actually quickly becoming my number one go to knife and depending on how I feel about my CQC-15, I might start selling off the rest of my collection and keep my Emersons... Maybe get them converted by Nath or Ferrrk with the proceeds from the rest of the knives because I still love Ti Framelocks...

Welcome to the club!!!
I only have 2 right now, My current EDC is a Super Commander

And prior to that was a P-Sark

I carried a Zero Tolerance 0551 for a few days recently but it felt sooo good to slip
the Super Commander back into my pocket, I know that I can rely on it to not fail me.

If you don't mine me askingm you siad your traded the 12, can I ask what for? Just curious as to what other knife would lead you away from a charm like the 12?

I hear you. My folder rotation has stopped. I EDC my CQC7B.
Ernest concocted a perfect knife formula.

i started out the same way. with sydercos, and kershaws.
and didnt give much thought into emerson knives, figured they were just expensive tacticool knives. its was probably from reading stuff people would say whom have never owned one.
after a bunch of spydercos (i think i sold my dragonfly g-10 to you? hope you are enjoying it) kershaws, benchmades, cold steels, most of those i no longer have.
i needed a knife that was more robust, with thicker tips. i wasnt ready to spend so much on a strider, or hinderer just yet, and that led me to emersons.
i dont even consider buying any other types of folders anymore besides emersons, and except maybe hinderers, if i could find them are a fair price.

My Super Commander is my favorite folder that I own. I have a few more Emerson's and would put them up against any mass produced knife.

I have gone through a lot of knives over the years, but the one constant has been a CQC7. I got my first one back in the late 90's when BM was making them, and I have had one somewhere on me pretty much every day since.

But do you like it better than the Auto by protech x emerson that you just posted about on the other thread?

Which do you like more? I ask because i am on the fence on what i should gt next. I already have 5 Emersons but not a big one like the Super.

I have been a member for a little while, but not too involved with the forums part of this site, just browsing the exchange forums. But I have been carrying an Emerson CQC-7 for the last 16+ years. I started with the Benchmade 970, (which I still have) and for the last couple of years an Emerson CQC-7 w/wave feature.

I could not be any happier or feel any safer with another knife in my pocket.

Just my 2 cents and thanks for listening,
Roger
