I Ordered the Emerson Combat Karambit from Emersonknives.com. I was (am) very satified with their customer service. They answered all questions promptly and we able to ship my order out the very same afternoon the order was placed, with tracking and ETA.
I chose the Karambit because of the blade length. I live just outside of Boston and the legal limit within city limits is 2.5 inches. The Karambit blade is 2.6 inches. To make a long story short, I will be carrying the karambit as a personal defense tool.
I could go into this item more, but most of you probably have experienced Emerson knives first hand, and are aware of the quality and craftsmanship.(and I have to go to work)

Hi, welcome and great pruchase.

I know the knife will have been well made, proper lockup for a new knife and shaa-aaarp!

I have 6 Emersons now in a short time. I started out sorta interested in the Karambit. But staying with what I know more, conventional blade shapes.

One thing I'd like to know is how much is involved in transitioning from the waved draw to index finger through the ring grip.

After you get to carry and use it a while let us know...

I am not quite sure of your question or if this explains your question, but...
draw the knife using thumb and index finger (center of the handle)
pivot 180degrees, then turn 180degrees (or vise-versa)
The back of the handle should fall into the palm of your hand
pivoting between your middle finger and thumb allows you to position your index finger to drop it through the ring in the reverse grip position.
It is not as complex as I make it sound, and can be done in one movement
The knife can also be held quite comfortably without your finger through the ring, and it makes the transition back and forth from forward grip to reverse grip easier.

OR you can just change the side the pocket clip is on and draw the knife with your index finger through the ring for and instant reverse grip draw.

I prefer drawing the knife with my pinkie in the ring for instant forward grip draw... so many options.
did I mention it was fun to play with?!? Thanks for replying to my post!!
