I picked up one of these GPK today. I will confess that I was interested in one of these until I saw it on their website. In person, it has the great fit and finish that Chinese Kershaws always have. I like that the blade is fully ground and sharpened on both sides. This knife is a perfect way for me to get a taste of Emerson because I tend to like Emerson designs, but I do not like the price given their materials, especially the blade steel. I have to get used to the Wave before I chop off a finger!

What's up doc? I received the same blade (CQC-6) yesterday, and while it is a very good knife for the money, I slightly prefer my Spyderco (Emerson wave) Endura, as it's lighter. I wear light fabric shorts here in FL during the Summer, and the Kershaw's wave is not pronounced enough for a reliable grab on this sheer fabric. It works, but not as well as the Syderco. I will carry the Kersahw/Emerson during the Winter when I wear jeans. With thicker fabric trousers on, the Kershaw will not feel "heavy" and it will deploy better. The downside to the Spyderco is that it doesn't look as cool as the Kershaw and it is 2X the price at least.

WARNING to all lefties who want to buy the frame lock versions :

The screws are too short for left hand carry. As a southpaw, I find that laughable.

The option for left hand carry is a major thing for these knives, as the great Emerson himself was not able to provide that from the factory on his knives.
Apparantently, no one from Kershaw ever tried switching the clip. Very unprofessional.

They will have to pack extra screws with the knives in the future.
And their warranty department will be quite busy until then.

Same thing happened with the Thermite, one call and they mailed out ones that fit free.

I called and spoke to Kai's Warranty / Parts department and it was a huge disappointment.

The person I spoke with told me the cqc-7k was not part of their line up and that they couldn't help me. I asked her to check the model number 6034T, she said it didn't exist despite me encouraging her to look on the Kaiusaltd website to see for herself.

Next she put me on hold to check and see if there was anything she could do... She came back and said I should mail the knife in for warranty repair and if the knife is damaged / defective they would send me a warranty voucher for the MSRP value of the knife. I can use the voucher for a future Kai purchase.

Keep in mind that the knife isn't damaged or defective, so basically I am screwed (no pun intended). Hooray Kershaw...

I will call today and hopefully speak to somebody else, I will also try web support...

These emerson/kershaws do look sweet. Havnt bought a budget friendly knife in a while, I may pick one of these up, or the 7 with the tanto.

Wow, just got off the phone with Kershaw, and what a total 180 degree reversal in customer service from this same situation with the Thermite.

Basically got told that the only thing they can do is for me to mail the knife in, and see if they can find some screws they "can make fit".

Cannot believe that after this exact same thing happened with the Thermite, that NOBODY bothered to check at least one to see if they fit this time.

I forwarded this thread to KAI. Hopefully they can get their CS dept up to date with this issue.

I hope they resolve this in the future, I don't really like the idea of possibly having to deal with this every time I want to order a Kershaw folder.

GPK had not processed my order yet, so I'm holding off buying one until Kershaw has a reasonable solution.

Yes, this knife is definitely no lightweight. It could pull down a pair of light shorts.

Response from Thomas.

Well, then the people at Kershaw need to be talking to each other better, since that is directly opposite of what the warranty dept. Told me.

Said they had nothing that would fit, and were not sure if their supervisors were aware of the problem.

May want to give them a call back at some point today. I have faith they will rectify the situation.

I may, I truly hope they get this sorted out. This makes the 3rd Kershaw in the last 6 months that there have been issues with pocket clip screws for me.

So I just called back to Kershaw / KAI support, the guy I spoke to today said that they would be able to send some screws out, completely different than the call yesterday. I can only hope that enough people have raised the issue to the point Kershaw / Kai is organizationaly aware.

Are these 6k's really coming in at 5 oz weight? I like the look of these and I would love to grind off the wave (not a fan) but 5 oz is a little heavy for me to EDC. I'm in Cali and in shorts 90% of the year

Guess they got this taken care of as I got the 6k and in the box is 3 longer pocket clip screws so that the clip can be reversed. Took some time, but they got figured out.
