This is pretty irritating... The screws are too short to move the clip for left hand carry!

Nice QC Kershaw... I am planning to call customer service tomorrow...

Wow, that stinks. I wonder if the screws long enough to use on the g10 side would have been too long on the framelock side?

Freakin weirdo lefthanders! But seriously, that kinda sucks. Kershaw didn't test this out? You might be able to match up the screws at a hardware store and get longer screws? That way you wouldn't have to wait. That sucks man!

Same thing with the Thermite. You know one of my Thermites came with a little baggy that had extra screws for the lefties.

I have noticed that many of the frame lock China models don't have perfect fitting screws for lefty carry. I don't get it... they drilled and tapped it, why cheap out on the screws by a few millimeters?

Yep, same with the thermite. I would've figured they learned from that one. Give em a call or email and they'll get some longer screws out to you.

The frame lock scale is thinner than the G10 side (which has the G10 scale itself plus the steel liner). If they used longer screws to mount the clip, it cause problems (screws could rub up against the blade). As has been mentioned, if you contact KAI support and let them know you need longer pocket clip screws for mounting the clip for left-handed carry, they should be able to get some out to you.

Same problem with my Thermite although it didn't come with anything extra. I wrote to KAI. Not only did they send longer screws so that I could switch it to the left side, they sent extra screws and like 2 or 3 extra pocket clips along with it, some black and some silver!

KAI CS for the win! They really do a great job of taking care of their customers

I think it was partially a secret ploy to get me to buy even more Thermites... "now how am I gonna use all these extra screws and clips?! Hmmm...." ;)

I never thought about it that way before.

They're diabolical...

While I know it may be frustrating you have to look at it this way. There aren't many Southpaw Knife lover such as you and me. And on top of that many lefties such as myself still carry the knife in the right pocket. So its much easier and cost effective if we called them and asked for a few screws then send out a million screws when only 100 or so folks really need them.

They are very nice people to chat with on the phone and get the parts out fast. So don't be so quick to call it a Fail when you haven't given them a chance yet.

Their chance was to make provisions for what is billed as a left hand carry blade in the original packaging. I am now being put out, and that's a fail.

To make matters worse I just called and spoke to Kai's Warranty / Parts department and it was a huge disappointment.

The person I spoke with told me the cqc-7k was not part of their line up and that they couldn't help me. I asked her to check the model number 6034T, she said it didn't exist despite me encouraging her to look on the Kaiusaltd website to see for herself.

Next she put me on hold to check and see if there was anything she could do... She came back and said I should mail the knife in for warranty repair and if the knife is damaged / defective they would send me a warranty voucher for the MSRP value of the knife. I can use the voucher for a future Kai purchase.

Keep in mind that the knife isn't damaged or defective, so basically I am screwed (no pun intended). Hooray Kershaw...

Just not the lefties...

Sorry to hear about this. I'm not completely sure the girl knew what she was talking about. I mean, you have the KAI product right there in your hands. You may want to call back at a different time, maybe speak to someone else.

Thanks for the advise, thats what I am planning to do... I have the cqc-6k being delivered in a few days so hopefully I will be able to get something worked out...

They also put a gallon of loctite on the pocket clip screws, but zero anywhere else on the knife. C'mon KAI
