With out a doubt the greatest Auto knife desgin I have had the pleasure to own. The ergonomics are perfect. I didn't think I would like the handle bird wing design but, I love it. I really recommend this knife.

Really excited to get my hands on one of the Kershaw Emerson CQC-9ks.

I didn't notice a lock feature on this knife.

It's a button lock. The red button is what actuates the auto mechanism and locks the blade too.

I really dig this one. Looks like a Raven.

I eventually foresee the Kershaw CQC 9 in my future. The hidden wave is too cool.

I'm not the biggest fan of a auto with no safety but it seems very safe. The recessed button works. I had the launch 1 (which I sold later on) and it never went off in my pocket.

The CQC 9k looks like a new age commander. Just wish it wasn't in a black finished blade.

Got one myself. The recessed button design is not that safe. Unless one keeps their pocket totally empty other than the knife and is careful. Benchmades patent on the top safety is great for them but bad for auto knife users and carriers. Although these kershaw auto knives might lack any safety to hit the tremendous value to price point that they do.

no I meant that there's a lack of a lock to prevent accidental opening, such as on the Gerber Covert Automatic.

I have the Emerson collab with gerber. That has a safety. Though after carrying both I feel like the safety on the alliance knife doesn't make it seem that much safer.

What are the chances of the button getting hit though? Even with stuff in your pocket.

Got it. That does makes more sense than how I originally took your statement considering your time on here. My mistake. :foot::cool:

I've never had an auto open in my pocket and haven't really felt a need for one. Though my pocket time is probably less than most auto aficionados.

I honestly don't see the point of any auto knife (although they are certainly fun to play with)

I have owned a few & it is ALWAYS faster to deploy a waved Emerson than it is to pull out an auto & then hit the button.

The chances are there, high or low, dorsn't matter. It's happened (accidental openings) and has caused severe damage to a few folks in this forums (from similar knives). Just something to keep in mind is all.

I handled one last week, it's very nice. The anodized texture on the handles has a bit more "chalkiness" to it than some of the other Launches. Between that, the deep texture on the metal and the large finger choil the grip is excellent. They say it's 3.4" but the way the grip goes in your hand you get more like 4" of reach from the front of the hand to the tip of the blade. Also, there is a tunnel style lanyard hole like on the Launch 1.

This one is going to be a winner! I just hope for an an all black (DLC) version.
