Originally I bought the cqc-7k because I was interested in purchasing one of these emerson designed Kershaw's so I can get a feel for them. I thought to myself that this knife might be a little too big for my liking so I then proceeded to order the cqc-3k. I figured I'd flip them around a few times and keep the one I preferred while returning the other. I'm a little pissed that I did this because now I have these 2 awesome knives that I don't want to return. Both knives came with excellent fit and finish and are really sharp, high quality pieces for the price point. As of now I think I prefer the cqc-3k (I have a thing for smaller knive) but I do not think I will be able to return the cqc-7, it's just too awesome. What do you guys think about these new models?

There's a lot of buzz around these new models, and for good reason. KAI USA is one of the top manufacturers in the world, and for them to partner with someone like Ernest Emerson to produce these knives is a win/win as far as I'm concerned. The average consumer won't have to shell out the big bucks to get a feel for an Emerson design, and I think that's smart business practice for both companies involved.

I have yet to order any of these knives, but that's only because money is a little tight for us right now. I definitely love the looks of these blades and plan to pick up a 4K, 6K and 7K. I don't think you're alone in thinking that these knives are high quality pieces for the price point. Now throw some pics up  I haven't seen the 3K out in the wild, yet.

I just got my CQC-7K and CQC-8k, and I'm in the same boat. I initially got one for myself, and one for my best bud, but I really, REALLY like the both of these. Frack, decisions decisions.

Aww, come on man. You know I'll be happy with either one :D

I think my bud would track you down if I gave it to you instead, then he'd come track ME down. Hopefully, he'd decide to come get you first, allowing me time to flee the country!

I'm similarly pleased with mine. I picked up a 5k, 7k, and 8k, and I'm incredibly pleased with all of them. They're likely to be permanent residents in my collection - I honestly think I'd rather sell off my real Emersons than these guys (not that I have any plans to do so).

If your friend isn't a knife guy just get him something from Frost... :P

I have trained him too well, I'm afraid. He'd be like "What is THIS trash?" before tossing it in the nearest bin. :D

Man, I need to get some pictures of these, because I'm really taken with the quality. Of course, I shouldn't be surprised. Kershaw is at the absolute top of its game these days, and these inexpensive little blades are quality tools. Yes, they're 8Cr14MoV, but that's going to be fine for what I'd use this knife for: keeping a pocket occupied, and cutting the occasional envelope (that and stabbing tangos). LOL

I would love to have my CQC-6K in hand right now, but the USPS decided it needed some frequent flier miles and has shipped it 1000 miles in the wrong direction. We are on day 12 since shipment and I still don't have it. :grumpy:

Ughh I hate when that happens. It's horrible to check your tracking number and see your package out for delivery 12 states over :barf:

Seriously. Grown and I had that experience during a past sale. He sent me a knife with the correct address on it (mine) and USPS said "You know what this knife needs? A trip of multiple different locations in Florida that AREN'T the destination address!"

Yup, passed me right on by and kept going all the way to North Carolina. Then sat there for 6 days before deciding to venture back towards the Midwest.

You know, it's even stranger. No matter what I order or where from, the way USPS is set up, it seems it is normal practice to criss-cross the country.... nothing I order ever takes the most direct route. Ever.

Hey guys this is my first post but I recently received a new cqc-6k and it would seem I received a lemon. It came brand new but was filthy inside and gritty deployment if it'd deploy at all. I took it apart cleaned n lubed it and while apart I felt a burr at the blade tang n lightly sanded it off. There is also machine marks on the inside of the frame and the jimping was not finished off properly. Once back together it smoothed out some but I still have a rough time opening it with my right thumb with the thumb disc. (I'm right handed) while my left thumb is almost effortless to flick it open. I have since then took it apart n polished the internals somewhat which again have smoothed it out somewhat but is still giving me the same issue. When opening the knife two handed the detent ball on the frame audibly makes contact the entire time with the blade as it should but it seems to be pressing too hard n creating a deep groove where it runs. Do any of you guys have any suggestions on how I can remedy this or should I stop the tinkering n just send it in.

- I would temper your expectations. The Emerson collaboration is a lower end, foreign made budget knife. It's not going to have impeccable fit and finish or attention to detail. I have two Hinderer Cryos and I had to tinker with it to fix the blade centering and had to clean the knife to get it to be smooth.

- Make sure you're not pressing against the actual lock since that will keep the knife from deploying easily.

- Open the knife a few hundred times and see if the knife simply needs to break in.

Yea i also have a cryo and its fit and finish was significantly better than on this knife and didn't come like this one did with dirt and grime inside it. I think I may in fact be pressing the lockbar when trying to open it with my right hand though ill have to make sure I don't do that, thanks! The knife has been opened a minimum of 1000 times by now and it is finally starting to open with less effort but still can't get it to always open. Thanks again for your input

Just got a CQC-6K based on the fact I never could justify in my budget the price of an Emerson but I have always been curious.
That and the initial impressions of BF members. Glad I did. Kershaw really did a nice job with these and the price is crazy low for how sturdy the knife is.
Mine was a bit stiff opening at first but gets more smooth with each opening. The knife came perfectly centered and very sharp for out of the box.
A really solid feeling. I will buy a few more since the price is so low.
The wave is a cool feature but I still need to get used to it.
