For your viewing pleasure, I present to you the new Emerson Knives, Inc Emerson Hard Wear Knives line. These are lockbacks with Zytel handles, made in Seki, Japan. This line of knives is to compliment the regular high-end line of Emerson Knives' line. The Hard Wear knives retail for under $80. This line will make their official debut at the upcoming SHOT Show next month. EKI's booth number is 3406.

First up is the Endeavor, with a 3.5" clip point blade:

so Dex, do these knives have the regular emerson chisel edge, or is the edge V ground as well?

The edges are ground on both sides! If this gives you any indication as to the high level of quality these knives are, I *think* these are made by Sakai...same folks who do Spyderco's stuff.

Any idea what steel they are using for the blades?

You know Dennis, I have no idea! I did talk to Derek once about these knives a few weeks back but obviously that bit went in one ear and out the other :) I think they maybe AUS-8. When I find out, I'll post it.

$80 is not a competitive price comparted to crkt zytel models. for $80 you can get a cqc7

hmm...

They sort of resemble a BM griptilian with a less-cool lock, to me...

Undoubtably, a quality knife nonetheless.

I'd like to see how these compare with the new Cold Steel folders.Just going by the pictures they look kind of similar. The Emersons have a higher price tag.Personally I still think the Spyderco's Endura & Delica are the standard for zytel handle lockbacks.Got to include Spyders Goddard as well.

All these knives are available with a plain or combo edge and the Endeavor and Traveler are also avilable fully serrated. From what I have read, the steel being used is AUS-8.

Check them out here.

They are of a lockback design. So it isn' t likely they will have any liners.

JFYI for those who are interested, Brigade Quartermasters advertises them for sale in their latest paper catalog.
