This is the PROBLEM:

Commander is the fastest opening folder but after you "wave" it for a while, the liner lock will move over to the right side of the blade. You will also be continually adjusting the pivot screw.

This is Emerson's reply:

As far as I am aware, Mr. Emerson has made no future plans to add the "wave" feature to any other knives. It's a great invention though, isn't it?

It is common for the liner lock to engage over further after continued use of the knife. However, if you are uncomfortable with this, you may return your knife to have the problem remedied. Please return your knife to Emerson Inc, PO Box 4180, Torrance, CA 90510-4180. Be sure to include $10 for return shipping and a note explaining any problems that you are experiencing. Thank you

This is Emerson's email address if you want to contact them:

The newer production models have an @ 1/4" - 1/2" shorter cut in the liner where it becomes the lock - the shorter length of the liner helps keep it from going over all of the way, but like any knife using a liner lock, creep is inevitable.

Good to see that if there are problems, you can always return it for warranty work.

Nonbox,

How old is the e-mail? I ask because they're offering another design with a wave now. I'm told they are shipping right now in fact.

Basically, it's a "Specwar" with a wave called the "SOFCK". There are two hundred tanto bladed SOFCKs and one hundred clip pointed SOFCKs. They are available exclusively through Extreme Outfitters. The price can't be beat at $150

Here is a shot I got of the tanto prototype with a production model at this years Blade Show.

I got the email from Emerson Knives on 7/12/00.

Is the SOCFK-1A Prototype going to be a production model soon???

Already produced and shipping as we speak.

Get ahold of Steve at Extreme Outfitter to get one. Last I heard he had a few left.
