Ok everyone, here are two questions for all you emerson owners. I have never owned an emerson and I think I am going to buy one soon. My first question is what is your favorite emerson? My second question is which emerson would you choose if your choices were a CQC8 and a CQC15?

Thanks,

Ben

8 because the blade shape is so easy to sharpen. My favorite is a Super 7, also easy to sharpen.

The CQC-8 or Horseman (mini 8) are excellent blade shapes.

I really like the CQC-15 and plan on purchasing the new mini CQC-15 that was just released as soon as more dealers have them.

If I had to pick between the 15 or the 8 I would choose the 8. But I really have a passion for my 7-A.:D Clean and simple. Just an all round excellent knife!

Between an 8 and a 15 I would take an 8. My favorite production Emerson's are a non waved 7B and a Commander.

7A is my first pick, followed by Horseman (mini-8). The Bushman is also good, albeit a big knife.

Though from the looks of the replies so far I am in the minority, I must say the CQC15 is my first choice.
I've owned and carried mine for about a year now and have only one regret...that I should have bought an Emerson Persian first and the 15 a little later. Emerson has discontinued the Persian...briefly I hope.
Anyway, the 15 does it all and has one of the best handle designs ever where the wave opening feature and the deep finger choil form a virtual finger-protecting hilt. Solid, substantial and damn near bank vault tough my 15 is my edc and a point of pride every time I flick it out to put it to work.
But I don't think you can go wrong with any Emerson.

Personally I am not much of an Emerson fan...My first Emerson was a Mini-Commander. I hated the grind and thought the liner was...skimpy to say the least. I think I need to try a full size Emerson before I block them out completely...

Your not alone I much prefer the 15 myself (I own 2), but for all practically I try to EDC an HD-7; but now that I've got my hands on an XM-18 I'm having a hard time choosing b/w the two-the XM is seeing more pocket time of late.

Fav emerson: CQC-11

between the 8 or 15, I'd go with the 15 (actually been thinking of getting that one)

I really dig the 8, have a few of them... but I've EDC'd a CQC7 in one form or another for over 10 years. All models have their pro's and con's.

If you want a great starter blade, I'd go for an SOCFK-A. It has the ease of sharpening of a CQC7-A blade, plus the greatness of a Specwar handle, and it comes with the wave to boot.

i bought a horseman before i bought my cqc8. the liner on the 8 seems much thicker. there was also a little rattle in the horseman that isn't in the 8. i still dig the horseman and i'd buy another but it seems like they put a little less effort into the mini's. you still have that mini commander?

between an '8 and '15 i would choose the '15 but then again i have an '8 and dont have a '15 so YMMV lol.

both are good, my fav EKI is the '12 by far but the '13 is also good, along with the SOCFK, '7, P-tac, I&I tanto, all good.
