I got the Tasman for utility AND SD, and La Griffe just as an SD last option tool.
And to the question;
Now, I've seen different pages advertise La Griffe , most of them say its 154 CM(incl. emersonknives.). For some reason its advertised as ATS-34 too, so is there such version at all, and if so, how would I know? The blade has no markings about the steel version.

To the best of my knowledge, Emerson has been using 154CM in his production knives almost exclusively. If there has been a variation, the blade is usually marked to denote this. Seeing that your LaGriffe is of 2006 manufacture, it is going to be 154CM. The only way to know for sure would be to contact Emerson Knives and ask.

What add did you see that said ATS34 was being used?

Nice pic!

I have a LaGriffe, it's 154CM.

A few years ago, several USA manufacturers switched from ATS-34 to 154CM.

I've read and heard several different given for the switch, but do know for sure that it happened - Buck, Camillus, Benchmade, etc.

i think there are also titanium versions out there as well. but as far as i know, ernie has always used 154 cm.

Hi, for example discountcutlery's site.. there were some others too. Before i bought mine, I just did a google search to find out price range and availabilty, and noticed then, that while most mentioned it being 154CM, there were some saying ATS-34.. I'm quite sure, that it's just a mistake then. Anyways, this thing is a good buy, Been cutting away stuff alot. Although the blade is short, it can cut deep. Just what I'm hoping it to be able to do.
