I finally decided to buy a Emerson LaGriffe. But have had a hard time finding any, and had several dealers tell me its no longer available. Are these still being made? Lucky for me, I found one on a dusty shelf in a store not 10 miles from me.
Wish I had bought one a long time ago. Its the ultimate "neck" knife if you ask me. Its just great. Also found a Rekat Utility neck knife at the same store and bought it too. Both have great sheaths, and were very sharp and well ground. But is the Emerson version of the LaGriffe still going to be made?

I was able to purchase a couple of white-water verions last month for friends and I am still seeing them in distributor and retail monthly mailings (from June).

A thought is to try a search under Google or post in the knives wanted to buy forum here and see if any show up.

I think that Emerson still makes them, but the nature of their production schedule given the size of their company has them going out in batches infrequently. They should start popping up again, hopefully

I just ordered one last week from OneStopKnife
got it two days ago...great knife...
I had ordered one from BOTACH...they told me it was backordered but would get a shipment in end of July.

truly a great little knife...but I am trying to come up with the best way to carry it NOT as aneck knife...
I am thinking of a sheath with a clip for IWB carry. Anyone know where I could get one ?

I was told by knifeoutlet.com that they were no longer available. Fred is a man of few words, so I never did get the whole story. Just because some sites have them listed does not mean they are in stock. Knifecenter.com did not have them either. The whitewater versions are around, but I did not want that. I think its more likely their production schedule. Someplaces probably have mini stockpiles others none. But hey I got mine now. Might pick up another someday as well. Its perfect. Ignored it for years. How wrong I was.

True. I really hope they didn't stop making it--it really is a great knife. I hope it is just the production schedule.

edited to add: unless you go to http://wwww.newgraham.com 'cause "IF IT'S IN STOCK, WE'VE (they've) GOT IT!" ("borrowed" from Mike's sig). Unfortunately they don't list Emerson on their site. Great people over there, though.

Take a strip of nylon tape and screw both ends together through a hole in the sheath to make a loop. Pass your belt through the loop, tuck the sheath inside your waistband.

Or you could get a J-clip of Kydex, instead of the loop, so you could put it on and take it off without unbuckling your belt. Either way, you get to keep the original sheath, and the loop or clip can be removed easily if you decide to carry without it.

You can always just remove the chain and drop the little guy in your pocket, like in the watch pocket of jeans.

I don't know that the LaGriffe is discontinued although the supply pipeline doesn't have any in it at the moment. Emerson, like a few others in the industry, has fallen prey to the belief that more SKU's is always better so, at any given time, about 40% of their product line is unavailable in the supply pipeline. La Griffes have been available almost all year until just this month so I suspect it will be a couple of months before we see more. Just a guess, I'm not privy to their production schedule. I would assume some dealers may have some in stock but the more active dealers are likely not to have any or not many. We haven't had any since earlier in the month. I'd recommend calling around if you can't wait. Take care.
