Emerson liners over extending?

Ive owned my emerson for close to two months now. It had a perfect lockup for a while, liner locking at about forty percent. Last few days ive been noticing, when I wave the knife open, the liner lock literally locks up at like 100%, and its nearly impossible to disengage the lock.

Another thing slightly related is, when I even get a moderately sturdy grip on the knife, I can feel the lock over extend back up to 100%.

Ive never had a liner lock over extend like this... I am worried this will seriously degrade the integrit of the liner lock.

Any insight to this would be great.

Have any picures? Naturally with kinetic energy the lock will move over because of the force put upon it. Do you mean 100% engaged or all the way over to the non-locking side?

Pics would be difficult for me to attain however i can if needed for a proper diagnosis.

Yes it extends all the way too the non locking side...

Even when just procuring a firm grip, I can feel the liner grind its way all the way back to the non locking side.

I just fear this is going to cause my knife to have a shorter life. Its also a PITA to use both hands to disengage the lock whenev er I wave my knife, or grip it even slightly firmly.

Thanks for your swift reply.

The liner does not extend OVER the tang of the blade, but the liner is so far extended, half of the liner is over the blade tang, if that makes sense.

One of my liners went all the way to the opposite side with lock rock. The locking surface was totally used up. Before sending it back to EKI, I replaced the pivot and the lock up went back to center of the tang without play. I'll probably send it in when its totally used up. I'm pretty sure that liner replacement is under warranty.

I have gone through and changed the colors of the pivot screws, and the barrel spacers.

I am aware "modifications" void warranty. Does change the spacer and screw colors count as a "modification" and void my warranty since its simply a cosmetic change?

You could have some loose screws. Make sure everything is tight. See the owners guide sticky.

Mine did this and I took apart and cleaned and now the liner goes over about 3/4 and has really good lock up and easy to unlock with thumb I love that because i think safer lockup..

I have an orange Super Karambit. Replaced the black screws with bright stainless, the black clip with an Emerson satin finish and polished the face of the pivot and pivot screw. Sent in for free re-sharpening, no problem. They replaced the liner (which was at about 70-80%) without my even mentioning it. Emerson rocks!

How did you 'change the spacer and screw colors'? Did you paint the sides of the backspapcer, which could spread the liners out too far and cause a change in lockup?
