Emerson lock question

I searched the forums and can't find an answer to my question so here it goes. I just bought 2 emersons brand new from an online retailer both brand new. One is solid as a rock the other has some veritical blade play. I know framelocks can have some blade play brand new and when they settle in the blade play will be gone, so I called emerson just now and they said that yes when the lock breaks in the blade play should go away. So my question is have any of you ever had a brand new emerson with veritcal blade play?? And did giving the knife the proper break in period and allowing the lock to travel a little bit over to the right fix your blade play issue?? It's not enough play that you can really see, I'm just obessesive about blade play and cannot stand it. This is my 4th emerson and this is the only one that has every done this. All input is greatly appreciated If this issue has been discussed before i apologize, i looked for it before i posted this and couldn't find anything. Thanks in advance

I have had this exact same thing on 2 Emersons in the past and after it was broken it the play went away. I would just sit in front of the TV and open and close it for a while. It will get smoother and the lockup issue should solve itself. Worst case it doesn’t, just send it back and they will re-adjust the liner or maybe put in a bigger stop bar.

I agree break it in, my CQC-7 and roadhouse had short break in periods but all blade play went away after a couple of days and +1 on just sitting in front of the TV and opening it

Some of my Emersons have had very slight vertical blade play; especially on new ones with early lock up. Play with it and let that lock get settled in.

I only have a crappy cell phone camera, and it's a commander, The lockup is super super early, like it's not even got sticky yet, well it hadn't when i posted yesterday. I've been playing with it especially waving it, and have found that with a "hard" wave there is no play at all. the lock has traveled a little bit now and the stickyness has started my guess is with a few thousand more openings she'll be fine, but If not those people at emerson seemed super nice and actually acted like they wanted to help me, I have no doubt they will take care of me if anything goes wrong. Thanks to all of you who posted btw.

UPDATE: I've been playing with it all morning and just now checked the wobble, and it's getting alot better , also this knife is amazing, btw it's my first commander and this thing is the smoothiest emerson I own, hell It may be the smoothiest knife i own period. LOVE IT!

vertical play is rare on brand new emersons. i my cqc8 had some play after heavy use because the liner start to slip and the stop pin was bent from all the waving actions, but i sent it in and they fixed it.
