So I was watching some videos on Emerson knives and noticed that the lock face on my Mini 15 looks different than the ones in the videos. Actually looks rather small. Any thoughts? I purchased it from a known dealer I found on here and this is how it came to me.

I had a full size 15 that looked the same, never had a problem with it.

I've owned a couple with this new-ish approach to the lock interface. They work great, no issues. IMO the smaller footprint reduces the likelihood of lock rock (not that that's ever been a problem with Emersons, in my experience) while still providing a secure lock-up, but I'm no expert.

Many frame locks use a relatively small interface for this area; it's neat to see that applied to liner locks.

Good to know. I've never had a problem with the lock but this is also my first Emerson so I wanted to make sure it was good to go.

Emerson use the three points of contact concept for their lock geometry. Lockbar, pivot and stop pin. The size of the lock face footprint is really not relevant as much as how it mates up to the lockbar.
