I just got my first Emerson (well... I had a benchmade CQC7) in trade to use as a "heavy use" (BIG envelopes  ) knife.
It is very light for its bulk, but it does have titanium liners. It looks like a user to me. I am happy with it so far.
Who has one they have used, and what are your opinions???
Thanks,
Rob

Hellooooo Bobby B! An Emerson? Whatever happen to good old fashion brand loyalty? I won't tell, if you don't say.

March 1, I don't own but find it a neat looking knife. Love the size, and shark like silhouette. Smooth and steady operator like its new owner I would say. Catch yah later.

Krizzard, out.

Krizzard,
Don't tell Ron, but I have a Benchmade 710 Pre-production in M2 as well:eek: .
The Mach 1 certainly seems to be a solid knife.

I own one too. It's an excellent design, but of all the knives in Emerson's line, this one seems to be ignored a bit. Most folks immediatley go for the Commander model, but the Mach-1 is just as sturdy. The shape of the handle is very comfortable and the texture of the G-10 scales are just right. You can't go wrong with the Mach-1.

I agree with Javier. The Mach-1 is a solid built working folder. My only complaint about it is the pocket clip. It doesn't carry the knife as deep as I would like in the pocket, but since I mainly use the knife as a work knife (e.g. around the house, out in the yard) discreet carry in those type situations isn't as important to me as ease of access. I'm always drawn to folders that incorporate a large finger recess in the handle. Mate that with an ergonomic handle and I am in love! The finger recess makes the knife more secure in the grip than without.

I remember reading something about Emerson taking the design highlights from some of his production designs and combining them together to make one knife. That knife is the Mach-1.

Does this knife have a chisel grind, or is it a true V-grind?

The blade is ground on both sides but only sharpened on one. IMO a true V grind, if you're counting the primary bevels.

It reminds me of a the "Asymetrical edge" on a Busse Apprentice knife I just got. A lot more edge on one side, and just "touched" on the other.

That's exactly what I got it for. I couldn't bring myself to use the BM 710 (Pre prod #299/400 - thanks Gadi) for that... This Emerson sure feels solid. I'll probably get some use out of it this weekend.:D
