Emerson Mach 1

I found a guy selling an Emerson Mach 1. The blade is date-stamped from 2001, and I know that this particular knife model is no longer in production.

He's selling it for about $200. I don't know - are Mach 1s highly sought-after? Would this be a worthwhile buy?
 
The Mach 1 isnt really an attractive blade.

I would choose something else to invest or even to use

I would pick the M-wave (basically a waved Mach 1) over the Mach 1.

Or a waveless CQC7A with a PE stonewashed blade with the satin bevels over that.
 
Years back, I was going to get the M1 but the CQC7 won me over. :D

i dont think there is any big collector interest in mach 1's, if ya want a decent serviceable knife, go for it, if ya are expecting to get it and then in a few yrs turn a big profit i would pass.

i have had a mach and though it was a perfectly serviceable knife it was never a big fav of mine,

if it was me, for $200, i can think of several other models i would prefer, one of them being the m-wave (or the '13, '8, '7, SOCFK, commander, '12, a100, P-tac).

and not that its bad, or anything is wrong with the model, its just not one of my favs, and imho i'm with the majority on this one as if they sell well EKI doesnt disco many models.
 
Yeah, I've pretty much decided against it. I hadn't heard of the Mach 1 before, so I wanted to get the forum's input on it.

I'm more interested in getting my custom knife done by Reese.
 
if its a mach 1 auto its been mod'ed by someone as IIRC EKI never offered that one in an auto, i have seen a few auto EKI's, that have been mod'ed, and the quality was great on some, not so good on others, depends on who did the work, so before i bought it i would wanna see it unless it was mod'ed by someone whos known to do good work, i have seen a few mod'ed by someone i cant think of the name now, but he's well known and does good work, its late, had a beer or 3 lol and i'll think of it and post sat PM,

edited to add- might be vallaton IIRC?
