Which one should I buy? Just for EDC, I am leaning towards the mini commander. I love the MCom blade shape. How hard is it to sharpen though? I am buying one tomorrow morning so I need to decide quick:-). Thanks for the help

It depends on how good of a sharpener you are. However, let's just say that no matter what the Horseman's blade shape will always be much easier to sharpen than the Commander's.

I used to hate the Commander but recently they have been growing on me for some reason. However out of the 2 I would still probably go for the Horseman.

Exactly what I was thinking. I have a Lansky and can get phone book paper and better sharp. I just don't know if I will be able to maintain the angle well. I maybe could just adjust the blade as I go along.

Another Horseman vote--- I am extremely good at sharpening (if I do say so myself) and can handle any blade shape/geometry/material you want to throw at me, but an outside curve will always be easier to sharpen than an inside curve, and in most cases is more generally useful. You get the slicing benefits of a continuous curve either way between those two models. I really don't care all that much for Emerson's semi-v, semi-chisel grind (fights you in straight cuts and is NEITHER more durable nor easier to sharpen) but that said I still own several models, and the Horesman gets more pocket time than any other.

I agree, my biggest pet peeve with Emerson is the chiseled sharpened edge they put on all their knives. I never find it to be as sharp as a normal V sharpened edge and it's definitely real annoying when trying to make a straight cut.

I just ordered the Horseman and a Maxpedition Remora from GPK. The Mini Commander or Mini CQC-15 will be my next emerson. I will probably get it at the next gun show around here. There is a big dealer there with all the prestige models and customs.

I have not got the Mini Commander: only the Super version. It does not strike me as too original: kind of reminds of one of the ZT knives. Mini Commander could be different of course - I do not know. The Horseman on another hand is pretty original, with very practical blade and comfortable handle: at least that is my impression. I like it more.

I think the Commander came out way ahead of the ZT so how can they not bee too original. the Horseman to me is of more practical applications
