IS it normal for the screw that holds tension on the blade to be hand tight? Mine loosens easily, is that normal? Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi Nugg3t,

It shouldn't do that, but I also have some Emersons which did the same. It's no big deal. Just remove the screw, put some Loctite (blue I believe, someone help me out here) on the thread of the screw, put it back in, adjust it to the tension you want and let it dry during a day or a night. Another solution is to remove the screw, wind some teflon plumbers tape around it and put it back in. Now you still have the possibility to make small adjustments. Don't screw it back, though, because the tape will be damaged then. Just make small right turns, until you're satisfied with the tension. I used the latter solution with my Emersons and I am very content with it.

If you go for loctite - I would suggest you use the BLUE loctite, as otherwise, it may be impossible to get it undone again in the future. Also, give it more like 24 hours, just to be on the safe side.

I've never heard of the teflon tape route before. Seems like a decent solution.

Don't worry too much about it being a bit loose. One of the great things about Emerson knives is that you can adjust them to your own liking, very easily.

Most other manufacturers make this significantly more difficult - using torx screws, hiding the pivot pin under the clip, etc.

Enjoy your knife. :)
