So I ordered a mini commander not to long ago and got it in the mail a couple of days ago. I got it the same time as my chris reeves umnumzaan. So I'm trying hard not compare them as they are in two different leauges as far as price and fit finish ect. It felt kinda cheap if you will when I first picked it up. I think it was a weight thing. So first the Blade. The recurve on it seems to be a kind of stubby or short one. I'm trying to figure out how to put it. When it curves up toward the front of the knife it curves up alot kinda like a tanto without the seperate edges. It needed a little oil but that's no big deal not rust just as far as ease of opening closing. It came really sharp out of the box. I don't know about edge retention because I haven't used it much. But my experiences with 154cm from other companies has always been pretty good. Blade length is bigger than I thought which is good. I think blade length is perfect. Blade width is similar to that of a griptilian or the like. I would like a thicker blade peronally. But I don't think I would like it at the cost of a thicker overall knife. It isn't very low profile in the pocketwidth wise that is. Also when it's closed it takes up alot of surface area for a knife it's size what I mean is if you close the knife and lay it on it's spine it's pretty tall.

Likie I said it is a bigger knife than I expected I can't imagine a regular or super commander. That being said I think they hit the nail on the head as far length. It is still a big knife for a pocket knife.

The scales have a really nice grippy texture. The other thing about the grip is that I don't know if there is a knife out there with better ergonomics it feels great in the hand and very secure I think that if the handles were made with wet glass it would still fell very solid and secure in the hand due to the placement of the index finger and thumb. So A+ on the handle.

The best part of this knife in my opinion is the wave feature. That is 90 percent of why I bought the knife. I LOVE the wave feature it works very well and is very very fast. But it is not dangerous in anyway. I think ultimatly it is what makes the knife for me.

Overall it is a nice knife. It is NOT a stider or chris reeves. It is on the same level as I'd say benchmade, spyderco and even some buck knives. I personally think that the above mentioned knives are a much better value at 70 to 80 versus 150 to 200. I would like to note that benchmade has always been oustanding to deal with as far a service and support. I have not worked with emerson in this department but I imagine that it would be equal or geater. at least it better. I do really like this knife and wave wave feature and handle are oustanding. thanks for reading

I love my Mini Commander and it's a great EDC I bought mine in the satin edge and it's been a great knife I like it better than alot of Benchmade designs because the G10 is much better and it is actually an ergonomic handle.

I agree with your sentimants. The Commie is defo. a popular knife, I personaly hate recurves but the commander is a knife that just works.
The handle ergoes are some of the best and they work well on the Bushman knife too.

If it wasnt for the recurve id probably have more Commies than just one.......

well, i agree it not a reeves or strider, but then again its a lot cheaper than either, probably $100 to $150 or so cheaper, so ya cant expect the same F&F, though to be honest striders arent so hot in that dept either, i have had 6 or 8 SnG, SmF's, AR's and GB's, and have yet to see one thats got good F&F with few or no flaws, thats not striders "thing", lol, great knives/not so great F&F. reeves stuff exhibits F&F second to none, as good or better than most anything i've see.

but all in all i agree with most else ya got to say, i like commanders too,

This was an evil thread...I just had to order one ...despite the crappy exchange rate.

That Commander will grow on you!! Trust me.
Haze > Right-on. If the Commie had a traditional blade, I'd have one.
Great pix.
