I am looking to get an emerson to use as my EDC. There are two that i just cant decide between, the Mini CQC-15 and the Mini CQC-8. which would be the better knife for an everyday to tactical edc? thanks for your time and help.

I think blade shape wise the Horseman's a better choice for your every day cutting chores, the recurve/tanto blade of the 15 doesn't seem that practical imho.

i was thinking the same, thanks. i just love the look of the recureve tanto. but i think ill go with the horseman

i feel like it would be hard to sharpen, wouldnt it? im sure ill end up with both in time. thanks for your imput!

That's the answer, get both. Seriously, the mini Horseman will probably carry a little better, be a little easier to sharpen, & is probably the more useful blade shape all around. The mini 15 has a grip that'll that's more retentive if you need that (Kind of like my CQC 12) & the blade's more "use specific". The 15 will be a little more difficult to sharpen (Recurves are), but it is something you'd get used to if you had one.

Good luck on your choice.

yeah i know what your saying, i put my benchmade 5000 up for trade for one an emerson, hunestly tho i would be happy with either, if someone traded for the 8 theyd be getting a better deal tho.

I have a horseman. it is a great size for EDC, and the blade design is perfect for most tasks. My horseman gets carried more than most of my other Emerson folders, just because it is so handy.

Just to throw out another Emerson suggestion the Endeavor is just excellent, I would highly recommend it

I love that blade shape, looks like a great EDC, thanks for sharing that one

mini 8 was my first Emerson and I still love it. I carry my roadhouse more these days but the mini 8 is my dress pants knife. Honestly the mini 8 does all I could ask a folder to do. The 15 is sexy but for me I like the belly of the roadhouse and the curve of the 8. The 15 is more secure in its grip but the 8 offers more different grip options.
