I am ready to buy an EDC and i have it down to two blades. Emerson mini cqc, satin, clip point non-serrated or Microtech mini SOCOM satin, clip point non-serrated. I have many blades from other companys mainly BM. but I have never seen either of these knives in person. I would appreciate your import on the matter and from reading some of these threads you folks are on top of the knife subject. Also how thick are these two knives? I also don't understand the Emerson website, it states that the mini cqc has a 2.9 inch blade and 4.25 inch handle. But the over all size is 7.75?? Thanks again for any input and hope to hear from U soon. :)

I've owned both and by far the better knife is the M-Socum. Fit, finish and in my opinion quality is far better in the MT.

I'd also go with the Mini-Socom. The overall length is measured with the blade open, measured from the tip of the blade to the back of the handles.

Welcome to the Forums and best of luck with your choice!:)

SOCOM here as well. I was actually fairly disappointed in the quality of the most recent Emersons I've handled. Lots of places where the knife just looks hastily assembled, and it has a pretty skimpy liner lock. I wanted a Commander pretty badly, but when I handled it, I got a SERE 2000 instead.

everyone thanks for your response:) I went and ordered the Microtech and I'm looking forward to my new investment. Thanks again.
