Does anyone know if the Emerson Persian is still being produced?

Is it true that the wait on Emerson knives is back logged due to low production or military contracts having 1st priority?

Emerson is a relatively small shop compared to the Buck's and Kershaw's of the industry, stock is low because production probably is low. Not sure about military contracts. I think some of the Emerson's have NSN numbers, but they are not a standard issue item per se.

I keep hoping Mr. Emerson will re-introduce the Persian in a mini-Persian format with the new 2009 stone washed finish.

they havent made P-tacs for a while now, several yrs FWIW, they arent easy to find anymore.

the ECA(emerson collectors assoc) P-tac with the hand ground zero bevel grind is the way to fly if ya like P-tacs, i have one of each FWIW, and the ECA is a lot neater, has a true satin finish too, of course they run $400 or so, i found mine back in '01 or so IIRC and it was $200, one of my better deals.

i havent heard anything about them being re-released but ya never know..........

the P-tac was never issued to anyone i know of, IIRC it was originally designed from a similar fixed blade which i think was popular with and used by some spec-ops guys but it was always a custom so they never made many of them.

The Persian has been taken off the Emerson web page so that pretty much means its gone.:(

I probably have more than my fair share of the P-Tacs but they are a really nice knife.
Its the best looking EKI by a long shot IMO. Its a shame to see it go thats for sure.

There was one for sale in the exchange a while back and I talked my self out of it and now I wish I had purchased it.

i noticed older production persians were labeled P-TAC and the newer ones say "persian" anyone know what time frame the change of names took place?

i dont know when/why but the official name is persian tactical thus "P-Tac" became a common thing to call them, 6 of one/half dozen of another.

i havent had a std production P-tac in a while, i dont remember what mine said, i dont think my ECA says anything like that on it though, just ECA and the logo.

All the Persans I've had were marked "Persian" IIRC, I don't know how old the the earliest
one I've had whould have been but I have never had one merked "P-Tac" as far as I know.

i dont know, it seems like 1 of mine said p-tac but i might not be remembering right lol.

I have trouble remembering what I did yesterday never mind what a knife had writen on it a few years ago :p

I had a look through some of my old pics the other day and some of the Persians seem
to just have the EKI logo with date, others have "Persian - made in USA" under the logo.
