RAYE:
Five years ago (more or less) I acquired my first Emerson (the custom CQC7) in a gun show, where I traded a production-made katana (actually made in japan, by machines, not men) for it. I had paid about $550 for the sword, and at that time, I was unsure as to whether I had made a good deal or not, but I LOVED the knife.
I carried my "7" daily for about 1-2 years. About 6 months after the purchase of my CQC 7, I ordered my CQC6. I waited 4 LONG years for it. Several custom knife purveyors actually LAUGHED at me when I told them I had ordered a custom knife from Ernie Emerson, and said that I would NEVER get it. Those same purveyors have offered between $3000-$3800 for both of my knives. I hope I never need to sell the knives, but it's nice to know that the value is there.
I have since purchased the other production models, which are my favorite carry knives, especially the CQC7 and the Commander. I keep my customs and my SOFCK (number 50) put away.
I also have many Microtech Auto's, several Spyderco knives, several Balisongs and other custom knives, but my absolute favorites are, by far, my Emersons. I will soon be acquiring the "mini's", as well as some custom production knives. I wonder if Ernie would be willing to fill particular custom production requests, like say, CQC7, POLISHED blade, MOP handles and POLISHED titanium bolsters with machined liners?
I continue to dream.....
