Hello all, new to the forum...been searching and haven't been able to find a post on the Emerson police/utility fixed blade...was just wondering if any of u guys have one and what is your thoughts/opinion on it...just looking for a good fixed blade to compliment my QCQ-7...thanks all

Don't own one, but ive been tempted too. I expect it would be a good fixed blade for daily carry.

It's a good knife, not too big not too small. I keep one in my pack and carry my pack everyday so I guess you could call it an EDC even though it gets little use. The sheath isn't too overbuilt, mine is a simple kydex pancake with tek-lok that can be carried vertical or horizontal. I've been able to conceal it under a t-shirt without too much discomfort. I was carrying a benchmade nim-cub before this and the benchmade feels like a toy next to the PUK.

A good, stout knife. Surprisingly, I have worn it as a neck knife on hiking trips here in Alaska. I removed the belt clip attachment from the sheath (which I don't like). Although a bit heavy, it worked OK in the role of neck knife, and was instantly available without having to dig into the pack or under a jacket, etc. I put the suspension strap on my pack (which connects the 2 shoulder straps) over the sheath, so it doesn't swing out or flop around. It appears to have the strength I want in an outdoors, do-everything blade. I would recommend it, based on my experience with it.

Good answers here; I don't have one either but I have contemplated getting one of those too; I assume it is the same steel Emerson uses on almost everything else, I'm too lazy to check on their site right now, but if it is 154CM it is an excellent steel; it is tough, very tough.
Ok, I went and checked, got rid of the laziness, it is 154CM indeed, and check this out, from their site:"The Police Utility Knife fulfills all of the needs for an Emerson – designed fixed blade for police and tactical utility applications. Members of the British SAS have said, “Now this is the knife we’ve been waiting for.” Because of the design features of this knife it is perfect for the serious off road trekker, and I mean from Afghanistan to the Belgian Congo. The knife features a short, stout blade with an extremely strong V grind and is honed to razor sharpness. The handle features a deep guard and positive thumb ramp designed to provide a “no slip forward” safety grip for the knife. Now available with serrations and a molded sheath with tech lock."

I guess if it is good enough for the SAS guys, it must be ok for us normal guys.

I don't own an Emerson fixed blade and have had my eye on the PUK for a few months. If it can handle the Alaskan outdoors, I'm sure the PUK can handle anything I throw at it. After I acquire a Gentleman Jim, this may be next on my list.
