I just bought four CQC-7Bs from my local dealer -- 3 as gifts for my good buddies (lucky bastids!) and a nice plain edge satin model for yours truly :). I've closely inspected each and every one, and without exception they are the finest examples of production Emerson knives that I have encountered. The liners engage precisely on the left side of the tang, and the blade grinds and coatings are flawless. In addition, the fit and finish of the liners, scales and backspacers is much better than my older 2000 model '7 (i.e. they line up perfectly vs. being a slightly out of tolerance.) There was a time that I would have been hesitant to order an EKI knife sight unseen, but based on the consistency of these four dudes I forsee many more new toys for me in the coming months. (Especially since I can now confidently take advantage of Internet dealers and pricing...)

I know that these guys are gonna be totally blown away when they get their blades. Keep up the good work!

Glad to hear everything worked out for you! I often make my way to TO once a month or so and was just curious where you picked up those fine EKI samples.

Murray at Proedge hand picked my satin waved 7b #263 as the "best" of the 8 or so he had just ordered in. He did say that they were *all* very good though. This does tend to support the good QC statement.

Too bad he cannot get any La Griffe's in, it seems they are completely out.
