I just purchased my second emerson, a mini cqc-8 from a member here on the forums. However I've noticed two issues with it, not massive but I do want to fix them and was wondering if anyone here had advice for me. First is the fact that the lock is very sticky when waved open. I know Emersons require a break-in period I'm just curious how long it takes and if there's anything I can do? The other thing is that the liner squeaks when I open it up slowly, is that normal? Any advice would be great, I was already planning on polishing the liners and jimping so any advice on how to smooth out the action would be amazing

Both seem pretty normal. Put sharpie or pencil lead on the blade where it meets the lock face to help with the sticking. A small amount of lubricant on the pivot and washers will help with the squeaking.
Congrats on the new Emerson. I really like the looks of the mini 8 (horseman).

Congrats on the new Emerson. I really like the looks of the mini 8 (horseman).

I tried, it seems to still squeak it sounds like bare metal scraping metal. I'm gonna keep using it for a few days and then if it still bugs me i'll take some 2000 grit sandpaper to the surfaces

I wouldn`t sand anything I would just keep drawing on the beveled face of the blade tang with a pencil until the knife wears in.

Don't sand anything! Put a tiny bit of lube on the detent balls - that is where the noise is coming from.

I've only had a squeek on my SF models. I just stripped all the lube off and polished the pivot portion of the blade with Flitz. No more squeek.

I had the same problems with my Mini-8, I sanded and polished the pivot area for a smoother opening. The lock was extremely sticky and hurt to open it. Its has broken in a bit but still has some stick. I tried to open and close it many times to the point where it left a dent in my nail. That was like 3 months ago. Its fine now, but it did take a while.

Send it in to emerson for sharpening and they will fix everything that's wrong with your knife. Before I sent in my mini cqc 15 it was super sticky and rough even after cleaning and lubeing. I sent it into emerson for sharpening after using the hell out of it and got it back better than ever. They replaced everything that was needed so I pretty much have a new knife that's silky smooth. Emerson has the best customer service.
