First of all Welcome to the Emerson Forum.

One must dilligently search to find all the elusive answers to the Emerson Questions however you have come to the right place.

May I suggest that you take a look at the Emerson Custom Gallery here on the Emerson Forum several posts, (or days down.) There is a great wealth of information and most all of the Emerson knives are pictured there, as well as a wealth of information.

After reviewing that area there are many knowlegable individuals here who will be able to answer other questions you may have.

Welcome to the Emerson Forums!

Don is correct. The "Emerson Gallery" was made with the intent to help folks with commonly asked questions and to just plain give folks a place to show off thier prized knives.

Sorry, can't help you there.

On the custom side, there is the CQC5, CQC6, CQC7, CQC8 and the CQC9. Here is a couple of links to pages from an older custom catalog that will show you the dementions of the different models. Page 1 Page 2

However . . . . if you only look at the "CQC" series of customs, your only scratching the "custom" surface. Look at the ES1-M, the Rhino, the Vipers, the fixed blades, the Pre-tacticals, ect. True me, your going to like.

Just so there is no confusion, EKI makes production knives with the prefix CQC on them also. These are the CQC7A (Spearpoint)and the CQC7B (Tanto). These two models are actually quite veried in the configurations they can be had in. Finishes, sizes, with or with out a wave, ect.

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Quote The Emerson Gallery
Wave - The wave is a patented feature that allows the knife to be opened as it's drawn from the pocket. This is the fastest method of deploying a folder that I am aware of. It is located directly to the rear of the thumb disk and resembles a wave or hook. As the knife is drawn to the rear, the wave engages the edge of the pocket, opening the knife as it is drawn. Hope that helps

I believe the standard La Griffe is made of the same steel as the other EKI blades (154cm) The titanium version is kind of special, more expensive.

The wave is so called because it kind of looks like a wave (as in beach, ocean, surfing, lunar gravitational pull, etc)

appreciated has two "p"s.

Hey,

On emerson's website, in the faq, he has one question titled something like "how we can use titanium as a blade material" or something close to that. (Sorry, i'm too lazy to go check for specifics) But basically what they say is there is a layer of carbide crystals impregnated into the flat side of the chisel grind which serves as the cutting edge. From that, i would ASSUME that it is a more standard form of titanium. But why not email emerson's themselves, they should be able to answer that one for you.

ps - the ti la griffe is great! got one myself
