Here is a reground CQC 13. I removed the serrations and slightly recurved the blade. It has been ground to .010" at the edge and the grind has been raised slightly. It also has a traditional double sided sharpening.

Let me know what you guys think..

Thanks!

Man that is one wicked Emerson CQC 13! Beautiful how you were able to remove the serrations and still keep the asthetics of the original profile! Awesome work Mr. Krein!!!!

Wow! Nice work Tom. I have been toying with the idea of getting a mini CQC7 but havent because of the chisel grind, but i just might have to get one now i have seen what you can do to them. Lovely job.

Can you post a before and after? Seems to me that double-grinding it would significantly decrease the distance from the spine to the edge...

Still looks damn spiffy, I'll give you that much.

Bob, these are all Emersons that come with a traditional double grind. They are sharpened from one side. Once reground they have a traditional double sided sharpening.

I can't change a chisel ground Emerson to a double grind, but can thin them down also and make them cut a LOT better too.

Tom

when you thin down the cqc7 can you change the tanto into more of a spear point? something similar to hinderers spanto?

Ohhhhh... I thought they were chisel GROUND, not just chisel SHARPENED. That makes a whole lot more sense, then.

That's one crazy grind! Love how you kept the lines in there from grinding, it breaks up the large side profile just right.

Mr. Krein !!!

That thing is so sharp I cut myself just by looking at it , please delete pic. :D

Fantastic job.

ROTFLMAO !!! I thought the same thing ... I almost flinched when I saw it. :p

hehe ! I don't like to use others terms too often but if there is such a thing as 'scary sharp' then that beauty is it. :D

Now , off to find more bandaids. :D:D

The swedge he put on it really adds to the beauty of the profile and it also added a nice balance to the knife and it penetrates like nobody's business. The grind is crazy sharp, I'm looking for anything and everything to cut! I haven't waved it open that much for fear of amputation, this baby is scapel sharp! I stacked up the sunday paper folded it in half and cut down the fold and it sliced through the lot it one swipe! Mr. Krein did such a nice job on this one, I am liquidating some of the herd because of it as they will just be dust catchers. I also like to think it's a one off 13 for now! :)

Tom,
Have you done a mini cqc7 yet? I cant tell if it is chisel ground or not from the info i have found.

All the CQC7 tanto models are chisel ground. The CQC7A clip points are v ground with a chisel edge.

Tom---Outstanding! I'm sending you my HD-7 blade as soon as I can. Outstanding!
