Emerson Selfishness

My Emersons are not looked upon highly by the other knives in my collection/rotation. They are always hogging my limited pocket room.

Oh, I might carry another one in addition to one of my Emersons, but never any more as a primary knife. More out of guilt. So my CRK Sebenzas and Umnumzaans, Benchmades, Spydercos, ZTs, etc. never leave the house hardly at all any more. But an Emerson ALWAYS does.

I started a threat entitled "Emersons; more than a knife?" last winter with a similar thought behind it, but it was more about how an Emerson feels like a life-saving piece of equipment (if needed) in addition to being able to cut things, so I always felt compelled to carry one.

And nothing has changed in the past year. I would still feel guilty if I ever left the house without one (except when riding one of my motorcycles, which means full-on one-piece racing leathers, and no place to carry a knife).

Anyone else have a similar story? Has having at least one Emerson precluded you from carrying any other knives on a continual basis?

My only two non Emersons are a Benchmade Adamas and a Hoback Kwaiback midtech. I rarely carry them and when I do, I dual carry one of my mini sized Emersons in my other pocket. I just feel unprepared without an Emerson on me.

I just recently picked up a CQC12 that I think might do just that. At first, I almost passed it up because I wasn't sure if I would like a partially serrated blade. In the end, I decided to buy it and really like it. It's not my first Emerson, but it is my first Emerson framelock. It's extremely smooth and has a great lock up, not to mention how well it rides in my pocket. Sometimes you never know how much you're going to like something until you try it.

I forgot to mention, it also has a very cool Emerson lanyard courtesy of a recent generous giveaway from Sylvanus! Thanks again!

I too have a Adamas 275, and a D//A Vallotton Sub Hilt Spyderco, a Mini AFCK and an old school all black fully serrated Spyderco Police. That's about it in the nonEKI lineup, and I used to have a fairly decent cache of nice stuff (CRK, Brous and the like).

Yeah... Molly (my Doberman) thinks all the toys in the house belong to her, along with all the furniture and all the food & water bowls. My Emersons think the same way about my pockets.

I carried my A-100 everyday for months after my wife's passing. everything else got packed away. It performed outstanding in all scenarios. from ease of sharpening to carrying in my pocket.

I always have an Emerson. Something about em. I have a few other from other makers, but an Emerson is always standard carry.

Krav I'm sorry for your loss sir.

my newfound interest in Emerson knives has put a serious hurt on the rest of my folders...most are now cleaned and put away, and the rest were sold off. while i may only own two, a CQC-7A and a Traveler, i can say with confidence that there will be an Emerson of some sort in my pocket from now on.

I have a few ZT's, Microtech Scarab SE Executive anda Benchmade AFCK. The Scarab lives at my work. The Benchmade lives in my backpack with a flashlight and some other tools. On person is always a Emerson, usually 2. On occasion I will have 1 Emerson and something else. Today I have my CQC-45 in RFP, Endeavor in RRP and a ZT0777blk in my right chest zippered pocket (K1 pen in the left).
